Virginia State USBC Meetings, June 27 2009 (Overview)
The three Virginia state bowling associations had their last meetings as individual organizations and their first joint association meeting on June 27, 2009. The new, merged association will be known as the Virginia State USBC, and the list of directors (effective August 1,2009) is HERE. On Sunday, June 28, 2009, the Virginia State USBC Board met and hired Sallie Feaganes. from Central Shenandoah Valley USBC, as Association Manager. Some highlights from the meetings are below. Virginia State USBC Bowling Association

The 2010 Virginia State Mixed Team Tournament will be hosted by the Norfolk USBC Bowling Association at AMF Norfolk Lanes. Dates to be announced, but this is usually held at the end of January and/or beginning of February.

The 2010 Virginia State Open Handicap Tournament team event will be in South Boston and the doubles/singles event will be in Danville.

The 2010 Southeast Bowling Association Handicap Tournament will be in Montgomery, AL. Tournament dates are May 29, 2010 – June 27, 2010.

The Virginia USBC State Workshop/Jamboree will be September 25-27, 2009 at the Staunton Eagles Club.

The VA State Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony will be September 26, 2009, also at the Eagles Club. The inductees for the BA (“men’s”) side of the state are Johnny Harris from Lynchburg VA and Mike Eckles from Roanoke VA.
Virginia State USBC Women’s Bowling Association

Fran McKinney (a former state board director) was eulogized by Mary-Ann Keyes.

The plan of merger was presented to the delegation and unanimously approved.

The inductees for the VA State Hall of Fame from the WBA (“women’s”) side are Rebecca Williamson (Greater Petersburg/Greater Richmond) for Superior Performance and Lola Collins (Charlottesville-Albemarle) for Meritorious Service.
