Curtis Roberts, 75 of Troutville, Virginia, formerly of Roanoke, passed away in his home on Monday, February 12, 2024. He was born October 3, 1948 to Leslie and Mildred “Midge” Roberts. Both preceded him death along with daughter, Lisa Hambrick.
Curtis served his country in Vietnam as a combat medic in the Army. Shortly after returning from Vietnam, he continued to serve as a Roanoke City firefighter until he retired. Curtis and his wife, Dianne fostered many children in their home for over 14 years. He loved giving case workers a hard time. Anyone who knew him knew he was a jokester but loved staying busy and did some auctioneering and driving Abbott buses over the years as well. Curtis loved playing poker and was an avid bowler. He served as secretary to many leagues and was member of the Roanoke Bowling Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for years of service.
Left to mourn the loss is his dedicated and loving wife of 56 years, Dianne Roberts; two children, LeeAnn Schaeffer (Bill) and Curtis Roberts Jr. (Robin); grandchildren, Doug (Haleigh), Dalton, and Drake (Haven) Schaeffer, Alexa (Hunter) and Curtis “CJ” Roberts; great grandson, Cash Schaeffer; and his brother, Aubrey Roberts.
Mr. Roberts will recieve funeral honors from the United States Army and the Roanoke City Fire Deptartment.
