Gordon R. “Ted” Garman, 78, of Roanoke, Va., died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 17, 2022, following a long illness.
He was born on November 14, 1944, to the late Catherine “Kitty” Garman and Harry S. Garman Jr.
Ted is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emilee Carter Garman; two daughters, Emilee “Emma” Garman and Natalie Garman Shellnutt; grandchildren, Mikah Secrist, Julian Shellnutt, and Isabella “Bella” Shellnutt; and brother, Harry S. Garman III, all of Roanoke.
He graduated from Patrick Henry High School. Ted served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Ted was employed with the Bell Telephone Company for 35 years and was a General Electric security guard for 20 years.
He enjoyed playing various sports including bowling, slow pitch softball and golf and he attended many NASCAR races.
