Earl T. Harrison, Sr.
Earl T. Harrison Sr., 76, of Salem, Va., died Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Salem following a long illness. Earl was born May 30, 1934, in Roanoke, and lived in the area all of his life. He was the son of the late Walter C. Harrison and Keller D. Martin Crowder. Earl served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and worked for Valleydale Packers and retired from Roanoke Electric Steel. He was an avid Salem High School football fan and enjoyed dirt track racing and bowling. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Harrison, in June 1992; and sisters, Kathryn Fulwider and Sybil “Bootsie” Clark. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Cathy Harrison, of Salem, Tommy and Ginger Harrison, of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Pam Harrison, of Salem; two grandchildren, Cody and Kendra; brothers and sistersin-law, William “Jack” and Betty Harrison, of Salem, Raymond “Tiny” and Barbara Harrison, of Roanoke; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia and Pete Farris, of Salem, and Peggy Nimmo, of Roanoke; two special in-laws, Jimmy Clark and Tina Gillespie, both of Salem; and numerous other relatives.
