Harry Harmon Nixon
Harry Harmon Nixon, 95, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II, and later retired from General Electric after 25 years of service. In his spare time, Harry enjoyed bowling and golfing. Preceding him in death were his parents, John Thomas Nixon Sr. and Bertha Nixon; siblings, John Thomas Nixon Jr., Rexford Nixon, George W. Nixon, Eugene Nixon, and Ava Sumner; and a granddaughter, Carol Renee Manuel. His surviving family includes his wife of 70 years, Rosetta (Pat) Nixon; children, Donald H. Nixon and wife, Peggy, and Joyce Manuel and husband, Carl; grandchildren, Jeffrey T. Manuel, Charles R. Heslep III, Kimberly D. Bratton and husband, Paul, and Robyn M. Rader and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Blaine Manuel, Ericah Nicole Manuel, Maegan Bratton, Morgan Bratton, Hayley Rader, Nicholas R. Heslep, and Matthew C. Heslep; special one who was like a greatgranddaughter, Maddy Kanode; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Irene Nixon, Carlene Nixon, and Evelyn Nixon. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. James Witten Jr. and the entire 5 West staff of Lewis-Gale Medical Center for their wonderful service and loving care.
