James B. Lightfoot
James B. Lightfoot departed this life on Monday, April 5, 2021, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born September 19, 1934, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late John Carter Lightfoot and the late Dorothy Hairston Lightfoot.
He graduated in 1951 from Franklin County Training School. In March of 1997, James retired from General Electric in Salem, Virginia after almost 32 years of service.
James was a devoted member of Loudon Avenue Christian Church for almost sixty years. For many of those years he served as a Deacon and an Elder.
He was an avid bowler and a member of the Roanoke Bowling Association and was inducted into the Roanoke Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
James was preceded in death by his devoted wife of almost 42 years, Elnora P. Lightfoot; son, Randall Lightfoot; two brothers, Matthew Lightfoot and Joe Lightfoot; sisters, Clementine Caudle, Audrey Hairston, Ramona Reid, Veronica Moore, and Mary Elizabeth Vaughn.
He is survived by his current wife, Charlene Lightfoot; son, Michael (Myra) Lightfoot of Atlanta, Georgia; daughters, Renita L. Sharp of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jaynine (Bernard) Meeks of Charlotte, North Carolina; three step-sons, Nelson Stevens, Anthony Stevens, and Stanley Stevens, all of Roanoke, Virginia; eight loving grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
