James Howard “Jimmy” Sink
James Howard “Jimmy” Sink, 90, of Roanoke passed away Friday January 2, 2015. His parents, Marvin and Ella Sink and four brothers, Edgar, Ralph, Cleveland, and J. B. Sink preceded him.Mr. Sink served proudly in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific Theater in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment, where he received the Purple Heart Medal. He retired from the Rainbow Bread Company after 26 years of service before starting M & J Electrical Contractors where he retired after 30 plus years. He was also a member of the Williamson Road Church of the Brethren where he was the Head Usher for many years. During his free time, he played guitar in a band, The Joyful Noise and was an avid bowler.Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Dot Sink; two daughters, Sandra Williams and husband, Phil, Melody Sink and Steve Dawkins, all of Virginia Beach; two grandsons, Brandon Williams and wife Tara, Kris Williams and wife Angie; five great grandchildren; sister, Violet Wray of Rocky Mount, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and his two business partners, Bob Layman and Mike Wilbourn.Family requests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Williamson Road Church of the Brethren, 3110 Pioneer Road, NW, Roanoke, Virginia 24012 in his memory.
