Leonard Booth, Jr.

Leonard Booth, Jr., 82, went home to be with the Lord and be reunited with his beloved, Brenda, on Monday, March 20, 2017. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend that anyone could have ever wanted and he will be greatly missed. He retired from General Electric after 35 years.

He was very active and loved life. He bowled three days a week in leagues at Hilltop Lanes, he was an official grit server at the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, and he was very involved in the Roanoke Valley Breakfast Lions Club. He also enjoyed activities and friends at the Community of Faith Church where he was a member. He loved music and was an avid teddy bear collector.

He is survived by his children, Debra (Stewart) Vivian, Allan (Denise) Booth, and Jeanie Ratliff; his twelve grandchildren, Matt, Joe, Sarah (Dan), Melissa, Cathy (Jarod), Mikey, Charles, Nick, Sam, Jeffy, Tony, and Suzie; his nine great-grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob, James, Katarina, Lilliana, Joseph, Jude, Tessie, and Greta; and by a cousin, Beck Verduce. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Chick (Jim) White, Sue (Mike) Towery, and Betty Triplett and many nieces and nephews. Also by close friends, Walt and Ann Shelton and George and Libby Ferguson. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 53 years, Brenda; his parents, Leonard William and Dicey Faye Boothe; and sisters Rebecca Sydnor and Leahona Johnson.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Leonard’s memory to the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, 402 4th St. SE, Roanoke, VA 24013 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
